American Mosques and Islamic centers have been the victims of vandalisation, harassment and anti-Muslim bigotry atleast 63 times in 2015, according to study by Council on American Islamic relations. Throughout his campaign, Donald Trump utilized rhetoric laced with xenophobia to attack minorities while feeding on white America’s growing economic distress. Following the election, Trump reaffirmed his support of policies that unequivocally target Muslims – such as denying entry to refugees escaping humanitarian crises from “terror-prone regions”. The Council on American-Islamic Relations has recorded more than 100 incidents against Muslims since election day. In New York, Governor Andrew Cuomo was forced to create a special police unit to address the spike in hate crimes statewide.

It seems the knowledge of Bible has becomes the privileged discourse to attack innocent Muslims. I find it hilarious when Christians claim to be adherents of “Peace, Love “and that Bible has been a credible guide base on Jesus Christ’s teachings. More striking is when I watched the video footage, seeing how the leader of the evangelism team was insulting and aggressively harassing the innocent Muslims. The man verbally attacked saying:

“Your religion tells us you get seventy-two virgins by actually killing infidels.”

“We are having insecurity today because of your religion.”

“Your Prophet Mohammed is a pedophile.”

How can one comprehend the action of someone who displayed a placard that read: “Jesus is peace”, “Jesus loves you”; wear a shirt with an inscription that says: “Trust Jesus”, “Jesus saves”, and terrorized innocent people and place of worship?

Incident of Islamophobia is becoming rampant; it is describe as any kind of hate crime or speech against Muslims. The attacks can come in different ways whether it’s a threat to one’s life, calling Islam evil and a cult, or depicting the prophet as a terrorist or pedophile, disrespecting the Quran, these are all signs of Islamophobia.

Islamophobes and anti-Muslim bigots feel it is their birthright to attack Islam, demean Prophet Muhammad, and insult the Muslims at any slight opportunity. Such attitude is borne out of ignorance or for malicious motives and want to make people cynical towards the religion and it prescriptions; apparently, an attempt to legalized their ideological supremacy on Muslim race. What makes them think their views is the ideal way of spiritual attainment?

Those who initiate this idea should know that Muslims don’t need to adapt to their values and ways of thought, because amongst all the traditions and religions, none has produced so much influence or as deep an impact on the different aspects of human life as Islam has done. Islamic scripture has laid the fundamental directions that give relationships, rights and duties of individuals in respect of various situations that involve human interactions, in the same way as it explained the relations of men with God.

The law stipulated that anyone who in a ridiculing, slanderous, insulting, threatening or any other manner publicly assaults a person or a group of people on the basis of their nationality, skin colour, race, religion or sexual orientation, shall be fined or jail for certain period of time.

Humiliating and disrespecting Islam, insulting the prophet by Islamophobes and Islamic haters should be considered and judged as oppressions, thus must be fought against through the media channels, write on specific incident that happened, speak out and condemn the intolerance attitude towards Muslims. Standing for equality and justice is a form of gratification in the event of oppressing and ill-treatment by any group of people on Muslim Ummah.

It is quite astonishing that the world communities are quick to judge and spread news related to any act of violence perpetuated by terrorists, but often ignored the intense bigotry of anti-Islamists.

Both the terrorists and Islamic critics believe all terrorists are “voice of Islam” the questions pose by respected Islamic scholars and intellectuals are: when did a tiny minority armed groups become the spoke persons of Islam? Who bestow such power in their hands? Why would the mainstream media believe words of ISIS, Boko Haraam, Al-Qaeda, Taliban, Al-Shabbab and reject the proper theological interpretations of the Quran? Why won’t they see it from the true Islamic perspective?

The accusations and activities of Islamophobes justified their actions as irrational. Despite the false allegation against Muslims, in the course of most acts of vicious violence targeting innocent people, the Muslims suffered more casualties yet the lies cannot be construed – Islam is a religion of terror and nobody seems to figure out the damage inflicted upon Muslims.

There is a need for this section of Islamic haters to revisit their ideological niche and think of ways to solve the problems and conflicts of the world in such a way that peace and harmony can be achieved.
