International solidarity with Palestine has continue to rise across the world. Social media campaign, street rally alongside the tremendous growth of writers and activists who outwardly condemned the ongoing US support of Israel, which justify Israeli occupation, attacks and apartheid policies against Palestine,  several activists spoke passionately about the suffering of the Palestinians under Israel’s brutal and unjust occupation.

They also criticized the biased and untruthful reporting of the mainstream media, which unfailingly casts Israel as the “victim” defending itself from Palestinian “terrorists,” when in reality, Israel is the real terrorist and perpetrator, using its overwhelming military power to attack and oppress defenseless civilians in Gaza.

The use of weapons to commit human rights abuses of Palestinians has been described as the greatest terrorism that was ignored.

Despite numerous agitations, campaigns and calls for resolution to implement the right to Palestine national independence and sovereignty, the situation of the Palestinian people remains unresolved.

Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan became the first Nigerian President to visit Israel in 2013. Goodluck Jonathan expressed solidarity with Israel over its continued aggression against Palestinians.

In June 2014 when Israel was looking for three abducted Israelis, former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan wrote to Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu: "I assure you that we are in solidarity with you, as we believe that any act of terrorism against any nation or group is an act against our common humanity. We unequivocally condemn this dastardly act, and demand that the children are released unconditionally by their abductors".

The  Former President who doubt the abduction of over 200 school girls  that took place in April 2014, he clearly stated that he didn’t even believe the adduction took place, but in June same year, he openly show concerns and solidarity to an alleged abduction of just three Israelis. The former president and his wife never visited Chibok town in the Northeastern Nigeria.  He was also accused of nonchalant attitude on the matter and if he had to made meaningful effort regarding the rescue of the girls immediately after the incident, the stuation wouldn’t have gotten to this stage.

Recent development shows the incumbent Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari speaking against the inhume treatment and unjust occupation of Palestine by Israeli authority, Vanguard ngr reports.

In a statement to made at the 13th summit of the Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) in Istanbul, Turkey. President Buhari commended the OIC for its efforts in ensuring peace world wide. On the theme of the summit: “Unity and Solidarity for Justice and Peace,’’ Buhari noted that the current precarious situation in the Muslim world was a source of great concern.

“A multiplicity of crises and conflicts litter the entire landscape of the Muslim World – from West and North Africa through Central Asia to the Indian subcontinent; from Jammu and Kashmir to Jakarta.

“And from the Arabian Peninsula and the Near East to the Balkans; many member-states are embroiled in conflicts threatening their very existence and taking an unacceptable toll in human lives and destruction of critical infrastructure.

“Muslim minorities in non-member-states like Myammar, Philippines, Thailand and China; and Muslim migrants in the West are still facing serious political, cultural and economic challenges or outright persecution,’’ he said.

The president, therefore, called on member-states of the organization to rededicate themselves to the struggle for peace and justice for Palestinians.

He said that Nigeria stood in full solidarity with the Palestinians in their legitimate quest for an independent state.

“The situation in Palestine remains bleak; the scourge of terrorism and violent extremism remains unabated.

“The drums of Islamaphobia, especially in the countries with minority or migrant Muslims, are being beaten to achieve mischievous political objectives.

“Nigeria identifies with and fully supports the just struggle of the people of Palestine against the unjust occupation of their land and the oppression of their people by Israel,’’ he said.

Buhari urged the Muslim world to take the path of knowledge, stating that the future lay with the cultivation of knowledge as the mainstay of the economy.

“Nigeria fully supports all OIC efforts towards cooperation in education, science and technology; it also supports measures put in place to develop intra-OIC trade, socio-economic infrastructures, micro-finance sector, agriculture and health.
